ESTRÉS Y AFRONTAMIENTO EN FAMILIAS DE HIJOS CON TRASTORNO DE ESPECTRO AUTISTA

2016

Abstract.Research shows the relationship between having children with neurodevelopmental disorders and family stress. The Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD has its own symptoms and a number of additional problems that give it a distinctive profile. These differences are reflected in the levels of stress shown by caregivers of children with the disorder. Coping is a reaction to behavioral and / or psychological stress, aimed at reducing the destructive stress attributes. Theories of stress and coping, as well as more specific models of family accommodation show how coping strategies have an important role in the outcome of adaptation. Consequently, depending on the type of coping strategies us…

Effects of Saline and Deficit Irrigation on Soil-Plant Water Status and Potato Crop Yield under the Semiarid Climate of Tunisia

2019

Water supplies have been decreasing in several semi-arid regions, and it is therefore necessary to adopt irrigation strategies aimed at maximizing water use efficiency. In this paper, the effects of saline and deficit irrigation on water use efficiency and on potato crop response, based on observations of soil and plant water status, were investigated. Experiments were carried out in Central Tunisia, by monitoring potato crop growth during two seasons in four distinct treatments (T1&ndash

Conservation tillage in a semiarid Mediterranean environment: results of 20 years of research

2014

Conservation tillage techniques are becoming increasingly popular worldwide as they have the potential to generate environmental, agronomic, and economic benefits. In Mediterranean areas, studies performed on the effects of conservation tillage [in comparison with the conventional tillage technique (CT)] on grain yield of cereal crops have reported contradictory results as well as considerable year-to-year variation, demonstrating how the impact of different soil tillage techniques on crop productivity is strongly site-specific. The present paper summarises the main results from a set of experiments carried out in Sicily during the last 20 years in which we compared no tillage (NT) to CT in…

Parental Stress and Parental Ratings of Behavioral Problems of Enuretic Children.

2019

Background: Primary monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (PMNE) may have a stressful impact on the everyday life of children and parents, and it may represent a cumulative stress factor increasing feelings of "learned helplessness." Methods: The current study investigated parental stress in a group of parents (n = 330) of children affected by PMNE, compared to a group of parents (n = 330) of typical developing children (TDC). In addition, the study evaluated whether parents of PMNE children experience more emotional, social, and behavioral problems in their children, compared to parents of TDC. Finally, the study correlated frequency of enuresis with stress values and Child Behavior Checklist…

Borderline intellectual functioning and parental stress: An italian case-control study

2016

Introduction: Borderline intellectual functioning (BIF) children comprises a group of subjects whit intelligence quotient (IQ) ranging 71-85, with a prevalence about 13.6%. Several studies pinpointed the role of parenting on BIF management. Aim of present study was evaluating with objective and validated tool the parental stress rate in mothers of an Italian sample of BIF children. Materials and methods: 26 BIF children (20 males and 6 females) aged 6-10 years (mean age 10.36± 2.03), according to DSM-5 criteria, and 53 (42 males and 11 females) typical developing children (mean age 10.58 ± 1.97) were recruited for present study. Mothers of all enrolled children underwent an evaluation with …

Financial distress and real economic activity in Lithuania: a Granger causality test based on mixed-frequency VAR

2020

In this paper, we extend the monthly financial stress index for Lithuania, computed by the European Central Bank, to a daily frequency and we also include banking sector stress among its constituents, beyond bond, equity and foreign exchange markets. We investigate the causal relationship between the daily financial stress index and monthly industrial production growth, using a Granger causality test applied to a mixed-frequency VAR. Our results suggest evidence of Granger causality from financial stress to industrial production growth once the index is enriched by daily observations from the financial markets. Our findings, based on impulse response analysis, confirm the negative effect of…

Changes in Oxidative Stress Index and Lipid Peroxidation Product in the Brain of Rats with Lesion of Central Dopaminergic System after Propofol Admin…

2019

Propofol is a commonly used intravenous anesthetic agent with antioxidant properties. However, the effect of propofol on oxidative stress index (OSI) and lipid peroxidation in Parkinson’s disease is still unknown. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of propofol on OSI and malondialdehyde (MDA) level in the selected brain regions of the rats with Parkinson’s disease (PD). 32 male Wistar rats were divided into four groups: I- control group, II- group with PD, III-control group with propofol, IV-PD group with propofol. 60mg/kg of propofol was given to the 8-weeks-old rats intraperitoneally, and the selected parts of the rats’ brains (frontal cortex, striatum, thalamus and hippocampu…
